Why are Indigenous design fabric used?
The vibrant colours and distinctive designs of the Indigenous fabrics are a powerful reminder that every book represents a unique life, a cherished person, and a story that deserves to be remembered.
Each fabric-covered book symbolizes an individual who is honoured through The Canadian Library, reminding visitors that those represented are far more than names. Together, the books create a living memorial that celebrates lives, acknowledges loss, and invites reflection.
Through the beauty and symbolism of the fabrics, The Canadian Library hopes every visitor to a Micro Gallery will pause to remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples and the children who never returned home from residential schools, while gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of truth, remembrance, and reconciliation.
Where to purchase the fabrics?
TCL currently partners with several Indigenous businesses. Please find their contact information below. However, we suggest getting in touch with one of our team members, prior to ordering, so we may guide you accordingly and make the process smoother.

If you are an individual or organization who would like to make a donation towards the purchase of fabric, you can donate directly to TCL. Funds are used to supply numerous Micro Galleries with fabric that lack financial support.
